Safety & Legal Information

Responsible ownership begins with understanding the risks. Read this guidance before purchasing, carrying or using a rechargeable self-defence product.

Electrical self-defence devices can cause serious injury. No product guarantees protection or replaces a personal safety plan.

Check local laws first

Rules vary by country, province, municipality and venue, and may change. A product being listed for sale does not mean it is lawful to own, carry or use where you are.

  • Check rules on purchase, possession, carrying, age restrictions, permits and lawful use of force.
  • Check restrictions at schools, workplaces, public venues and transport facilities, including airline and cross-border rules.
  • If you are in South Africa, confirm applicable requirements with local police, relevant authorities or a qualified South African legal adviser. Do not assume the same rules apply elsewhere.

This page is general information, not legal advice or confirmation that this product is legal in any particular location.

Responsible use & handling

  • Prioritise avoiding conflict, leaving danger and seeking help whenever safely possible. Never use the device to intimidate, punish or settle a dispute.
  • Read the instructions for your exact model and seek qualified safety training before handling it. This page is not an operating manual.
  • Never test the device on yourself, another person or an animal. Do not assume a brief exposure is harmless.
  • Keep it secured against accidental activation using the manufacturer’s instructions. Keep it away from children and anyone without authorised access.
  • Do not handle it while impaired, modify it or attempt repairs. Stop using it if damaged or malfunctioning.

Charging & secure storage

  • Use only the charger and charging method specified by the manufacturer. Confirm the correct voltage and charging instructions for your model.
  • Charge in a dry, ventilated location away from combustible materials. Do not leave charging unattended or use the device while charging.
  • Stop charging if the device or battery becomes unusually hot, swollen, leaks or smells unusual. Do not use damaged cables or batteries; seek qualified assistance.
  • Store securely away from heat, moisture and flammable substances. Follow local rules for battery and electrical-waste disposal.

When someone is injured

Electrical exposure and associated falls can cause serious injury. Seek urgent medical help after exposure, especially for chest pain, breathing difficulty, loss of consciousness or injury from a fall. If someone is unresponsive or not breathing normally, contact local emergency services immediately and follow the dispatcher’s instructions.
